I’ve played every Mafia game, and I’ve loved them all, except for this one. This Mafia: The old country left me frustrated. As a long-time fan, I expected a gritty, open-world gangster experience full of codes, passion, and guns. But instead, the game switched to an interactive love story.

I’m not here for clichéd romance plots like forbidden love. I wanted to drive through the streets, plan heists, engage in shootouts, and feel the tension and danger of the Mafia life. That’s what drew me to this series, and this game completely missed it.

I also care about period accuracy, immersive details, and meaningful choices in gameplay. Mafia: The old country felt shallow, rushed, and overly scripted, giving almost no freedom to explore the world or make impactful decisions.

As someone who loves Mafia films and series, I hoped for a rich storyline, maybe even tracing the Mafia’s origins in Sicily. Something that would fit perfectly with the series’ history. Instead, we get a thin story that barely scratches the surface.

It’s frustrating. This could have been a standout entry, but by prioritizing a generic love story over everything that made the series great, it failed to deliver the experience fans like me were waiting for.
